WhatsApp Desktop is the most convenient way to chat with your contacts on WhatsApp straight from your PC, and fortunately, the parent company keeps improving the app with bug fixes and new features every once in a while.
The most recent update is version 0.2.2243 and includes several new goodies that will certainly come in handy for desktop users, including a search feature for conversations. With this new option, you can search for a specific message in a conversation, in addition to the search feature that was already available for chats and contacts.
There are also some minor UI improvements and refinements here and there, as well as new emoji. Some people also claimed that the new WhatsApp Desktop includes a button to select and share animated GIFs, but this feature doesn’t seem to be available in this version, though.
WhatsApp Desktop seems to be working quite smoothly after the update, and although these new changes are certainly welcome, they might be really unnoticeable to those who are only using the app for chatting and nothing more.
How to update WhatsApp Desktop
If you’re not already using the latest version, you can update the client all automatically by navigating to the following path and running the Update.exe process:Additionally, you can also download the latest version of WhatsApp Desktop (Mac version here) and install it on your computer to always make sure that you’re fully up-to-date. Unfortunately, WhatsApp isn’t yet offering an auto-update engine for its desktop client, which is kind of weird given the fact that it’s quite a popular app.
WhatsApp Desktop is essentially a web wrapper, so you can also stick with WhatsApp Web if you don’t want to install anything on your PC. This way, you can be sure that you’re always running the latest version, as all updates are delivered server-side, and whenever you load the website, you receive all improvements available at that moment.
