Xiaomi held an event in Beijing today, during which the Chinese company announced its latest premium smartphone, the Mi Note 2. But that’s not the only phone that Xiaomi announced today, the company also unveiled the Mi MIX with edgeless display.
The smartphone stands out from the crowd with its impress design that features an edgeless display and a 91.3% screen-to-body ratio, which Xiaomi says that it’s the highest on any smartphone to date. In addition, the phone has a full ceramic body, which means that its back cover, frame and side buttons are all made from the same material.
The smartphone was apparently designed in collaboration which French designer Philippe Starck, which is why one of the phone’s main selling points is definitely its design. The smartphone doesn’t have the traditional gap for a speaker in the front, the speaker is hidden below the glass and it emits vibrations so that users can listen to a call.
Xiaomi Mi MIX Pro comes with an 18k gold trim around the rear camera
When it comes to components inside the smartphone, Xiaomi made sure that it incorporated the latest processor model from Qualcomm, Snapdragon 821 SoC, clocked at 2.35GHz. It also comes with 4GB LPDDR4 RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
Moreover, the smartphone has a Pro variant, which has 6GB of RAM and 258GB of memory. To differentiate between the two models, Xiaomi incorporated an 18K gold trim around the rear fingerprint sensor and the camera on the Pro variant. Just like the Mi Note 2, the two models of the smartphone will come with support for 192kHz / 24-bit audio.
Xiaomi Mi MIX will draw power from a 4,400mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support. The phone has a size of 6.4 inches in diameter and comes with a main camera of 16MP with PDAF. Front camera capacity reaches 5MP and it’s placed at the bottom of the smartphone.
The 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage of Mi MIX is sold for approximately $517, while the Pro variant with 6GB of RAM and 256GB of storage will carry a price tag of about $590. The two models will be made available in China starting November 4.
